How do you save a Douyin video to an iPhone without the Douyin app?

You don't need the Douyin app, a Douyin account or a Chinese phone number to save a Douyin video on an iPhone. Copy the video link inside Douyin (tap Share 分享, then Copy link 复制链接), or copy the whole block of Chinese text a friend sent you, open vidbake.com/douyin in Safari, paste it, tap Download and then MP4. For short clips iOS shows its share sheet; tap Save Video and the clip lands in Photos. Everything happens in Safari, it's free, and you never sign in to anything.

Step 1: Get the video link from Douyin

  1. In the Douyin app, open the video you want and tap the Share button (分享 in Chinese, the curved-arrow icon in the column on the right).
  2. In the sheet that appears, tap Copy link 复制链接. Douyin puts a block of Chinese text on your clipboard with a link like v.douyin.com/xxxx inside it.
  3. If someone sent you the video over Zalo, Messenger or Telegram, long-press the message and copy the whole thing. You don't have to hunt for the link inside it.
  4. Leave the Chinese text alone. VidBake finds the link inside the block on its own.
💡 v.douyin.com links are the short, common kind. If you see douyin.com/video/… or iesdouyin.com/share/video/… instead, paste them as they are; all three formats work. Stuck at the copying step? See how to copy a Douyin link when everything is in Chinese.

Step 2: Paste it into VidBake in Safari and grab the MP4

  1. Open Safari and go to vidbake.com/douyin. No account to create, nothing to install.
  2. Long-press the link box, tap Paste, then tap Download.
  3. After a few seconds a result card appears with the thumbnail, the title and a list of qualities. Highest (auto) is already selected; pick a lower one if you want a smaller file for messaging.
  4. Tap MP4. Safari downloads the original file straight from Douyin's servers, with no watermark or logo. VidBake never stores your video.

Downloads go up to 1080p, and when a video has a higher version the card lists it too. If you only want the background music, the card also has an MP3 button, or you can go straight to the Douyin MP3 downloader, paste the same link and get the original audio for a ringtone or an edit. If you already save TikToks on your iPhone, the steps are nearly identical; the only real difference is the Chinese link. Our guide to downloading TikTok videos on iPhone covers that side, so this article sticks to Douyin.

Where the file goes: Photos or Files?

For short clips, iOS shows the familiar share sheet as soon as the download finishes. Tap Save Video and the clip sits in Photos like something you filmed yourself, ready to watch or post anywhere. For heavy videos, roughly over 80MB such as short dramas or multi-episode compilations, Safari skips the share sheet and saves the file to Downloads inside the Files app; you'll see the download arrow appear in the address bar. Open Files, go to Downloads, tap the file to preview it, then tap Share and choose Save Video to move it into Photos. Once it's in Photos you can delete the copy in Files to free up space. Douyin short dramas can run to several hundred megabytes, so Wi-Fi is a lot less painful than 4G.

Common iPhone problems and how to fix them

  • You tap MP4 and Safari does nothing: go to Settings, Safari, Downloads and switch to On My iPhone. Many phones are set to iCloud Drive, so the file ends up somewhere else or seems to vanish.
  • iCloud Private Relay or a VPN is on: these services can block the connection to some of Douyin's video servers, so the download stalls or fails. Turn Private Relay off for a moment (Settings, your name, iCloud, Private Relay) or disconnect the VPN and try again, or open vidbake.com in Chrome on your iPhone instead.
  • The site says the video was deleted or is private: the creator removed it or restricted who can see it. VidBake only downloads public content and there is no workaround. Links friends sent weeks ago often fall into this bucket, so ask for a fresh one or pick another video.
  • The download is slow or stops partway: the site fetches a fresh link and tries other servers on its own, up to 4 times, so just wait. If it still fails, it opens the video in a new tab with instructions to long-press and save. Big files on a weak 4G signal simply take longer than usual.
  • You paste the link and nothing is recognized: the clipboard may have caught only part of the text. Go back to Douyin, copy again and paste the whole block.

FAQ

Do I need the Douyin app or a Chinese phone number?

No. All you need is the video link, copied from the Douyin app or from the text someone sent you, pasted into VidBake in Safari. There's no Douyin account, no Chinese phone number, and VidBake doesn't ask you to sign in either.

Will the video have a Douyin watermark?

No. VidBake pulls the original MP4 from Douyin's servers, so there's no watermark or logo added. Quality goes up to 1080p, and if a video has a higher version the card shows it so you can choose.

Why doesn't the Save Video button appear for a big video?

For files over roughly 80MB, Safari skips the share sheet and saves straight to Downloads in the Files app. Open the file in Files, tap Share and choose Save Video to put it in Photos as usual. That's how Safari handles large files, not a problem with the video.

How do I get Douyin music as an MP3 on iPhone?

Paste the same video link into vidbake.com/douyin and tap the MP3 button on the result card, or go straight to VidBake's Douyin MP3 page. You get the video's original audio, good for a background track or a ringtone.
