How to Download Videos from the Chinese TikTok (Douyin)
The "Chinese TikTok" you are looking for is actually called Douyin (抖音) — same parent company (ByteDance) but a completely separate app with its own video catalog that never appears on international TikTok. That is why regular TikTok downloaders fail on Douyin links. The right way: grab the video link from the Douyin app or website, paste it into a Douyin-specific tool like VidBake — the video downloads at original quality, watermark-free, with no Chinese account required. This guide covers everything from getting the link to saving the file.
How is Douyin different from TikTok — and why do you need a special tool?
Douyin lives entirely inside China's ecosystem: separate servers, its own link format (v.douyin.com), and content that never crosses over to international TikTok. Many worldwide viral trends, mini-dramas and AI videos actually start on Douyin weeks before re-uploads spread elsewhere. Creators who can pull videos from the source stay ahead of everyone watching re-posts — which is exactly why downloading directly from Douyin is worth knowing.
Step 1: Get the Douyin video link
If you use the Douyin app (installed via APK or a Chinese app store): open the video, tap the share button 分享 on the right edge, then tap 复制链接 (Copy link). Without the app: open douyin.com in your browser, find the video (watching needs no login), and copy the address from the URL bar. Both link types work.
Step 2: Paste into VidBake and download
- Open VidBake's Douyin downloader (button at the end of this article).
- Paste the link — pasting the entire share text with emojis works too, the tool extracts the link automatically.
- Hit Download, wait a few seconds, then tap ⬇ MP4 on the result card. The video downloads straight from Douyin's servers at original quality (up to 4K when available), watermark-free.
Beyond single videos: channels, music and photos
VidBake supports Douyin deeper than a typical downloader: the Whole-channel tab bulk-downloads an account's videos (great for multi-episode mini-dramas), the Douyin to MP3 tool extracts the music, and the photo downloader saves entire image albums. All free, no login.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Chinese phone number or account?
No. Watching on douyin.com and downloading through VidBake both work without logging in. You only need an account if you want full app features like liking, following or commenting.
Is the downloaded video watermarked?
No — VidBake pulls the original video stream from Douyin's CDN, the clean master copy. The in-app save button, by contrast, burns the Douyin logo and uploader ID onto the file.
Can I access Douyin from outside China?
Yes — douyin.com and v.douyin.com share links open normally from most countries, no VPN needed. Some content may ask for a login on the web; in that case get the link from the app or from whoever shared the video.
